(2/4-2/10) 10 things about me

Sorry about the lack of creativity with this post, but I've had an overly busy last few days and am about to fall asleep at the keyboard. Here are ten things about me that you probably don't know (and if you do know these things, that's a little weird).

1. I have been an on and off General Hospital Fan since 1979 (currently on).
2. I eat chocolate everyday, sometimes even at breakfast.
3. I love Burt's Bees chapstick.
4. I love The Carpenters and Broadway showtunes (remnants from my childhood).
5. I was a competitive distance runner in highschool and for part of college until I got injured. I'm still working through the injury, and I hope to compete again at some point.
6. My first concert was The Cure's Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Tour in Summer 1087. The last show I went to was the White Stripes at the Rave/Eagles Ballroom last year.
7. I met my husband at Quaker Meeting in Washington, DC, although coincidentally, a mutual friend wanted to set us up on a blind date six months before, but I said no. (This friend had forgotten that we both attended Quaker Meeting at the time).
8. The last book I read was Atlas of the Heart by Ariel Gore.
9. I subscribe to Yoga Journal and The Springfield Press, which is my home town weekly newspaper.
10. My current favorite tea is Rishi Blueberry Rooibos.

That's horrible that you had to give up running! What was your injury? I actually hurt my knee almost 2 years ago and it still acts up every now and then. It sucks because I love running and at times I can barely even walk. Fun fact---I'm actually in a knee study here at UWM (it's with the Medical College of WI too) which is trying to figure out why I'm still having problems almost 2 years later.

Burts Beeswax huh? That is one of my favorite chapsticks too. I find it has a wonderful peppermint flavor and has a tingly feeling when you put it on.
I've had a lot of bad experiences with chapsticks making my lips more chapped. Burt's is one of few that does indeed help keep my lips nice and soft in this harsh winter weather.
I'm glad you share in my joy of the Burt's Beeswax.

After reading your list, I realized that I cannot relate to almost anything on that list.
1. I'm not a Soap Opera fan
2. Chocolate: I can take it or leave it.
3. I have no idea what Burt's Bees chapstick is.
4. I'm not a fan of Broadway showtunes.
5. Distance running boggles my mind, particularly why people actually do it, haha.
6. The only thing I know about the cure is Robert Smith is in the group.
7. Quaker meeting? As in a meetin of people associated with the religion?
8. Never read the book.
9. I've never done Yoga.
10. I don't drink tea and don't know what two of those words mean, haha.

The only thing we have in common is the White Stripes. They were a band I liked as well. We have some learning to do!

I love Broadway showtunes because of my childhood as well. I've been in community theater productions of Annie, Bye,Bye Birdie, Wizard of Oz, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Oklahoma before I came to college. My favorite dorkiest thing to do is drive around in my car and sing to musicals. If anyone has the chance to see anything on Broadway see "Wicked." You'll never look at the Wizard of Oz the same way again.

Two things came to mind when I read all of this...one, my old roommate used to be ADDICTED to chapstick, no I'm not kidding, she started with carmex and then had to go to the doctor and now she carries around a rather large and embarassing tube of vasoline. Secondly, why do people run? I only run away from things...like dogs or whatever. So, props to you for enjoying running, I think I'd rather die than run for fun.

I definitely share your love for chocolate. I feel as though I am somewhat addicted. I am always stocking up when I go to the grocery store.
I also was a cross country runner for a short stint in high school. I give anyone that runs a lot of credit. It definitely takes hard work and dedication.

I'm severely addicted to Burt's Bees chapstick. I lose mine all the time though, so I usually stock up on it. As much as I love it, though, I think its expensive for some chapstick. Obviously, I still buy it. I found one kind of chapstick that is somewhat comparable, though, and that is Chapstick All Natural. There's beeswax in that, too and it is my second favorite.

I just recently saw “Superstar: The Karen Carpenter” story, which is a biographical short film acted entirely by Barbie dolls. They never got the music rights, or the rights to use Barbies, so it’s only available by bootlegs or online. Pretty good, actually, and surprisingly respectful. It was directed by Todd Haynes, who went on to do “Far From Heaven” and “Velvet Goldmine”.

Unrelated to your post: I see in your profile that you like "Veronica Mars", which is totally brilliant. I rewatched season one over winterim, and it occurred to me that Neptune High was abnormally dimly lit, but maybe that's just the rolling blackouts you hear so much about in California.
