30 seconds that you love

hey everyone sorry for the delay. i got caught up in SB then it came to an end so fast i completely forgot about posting... so here i am a day late and a dollar short..
i am a advertising major as i imagine many of you are (or some). the query i have for everyone is , was there ever a commercial that you saw that you were just like wow that is awesome? or one that stuck with you for a long time? i have been a commercial guy for a while. i enjoy watching new commercials or creative ones. I also love old ads for example i and i truly think I'm alone on this, loved those miller lite "dick" ads. I'm not being vulgar but if you remember they ran a campaign that was created by a guy named Dick. the one i remember was of loggers in their cabin and are being attacked by a giant beaver on a dirt bike. he rides in and eats down their house and rides away like a giant beaver outlaw.
aside from the genius geico ads the commercial that has stuck with me for the longest time is one by MTV (when they mildly sucked not like they do now). it was a sweeper or promo commercial for MTV itself that aired probably 13-15 years ago. the synopsis goes as this
its a first person view of someone eating a plate of food at a seedy diner. the hand is holding a fork and is getting some peas. from across the counter you hear someone blowing their nose real loud. the first person view focuses on the man blowing his nose who turns out to be the cook. he then pulls the hanker chief from his nose and looks at it. the cook in a very excited tone says "oh sweet i made an MTV logo" he turns to look at the camera and then asks "wanna see?" since the person he ask is that of the first person you cant see a reaction but the time is filled with silence. the cooks face goes from smiling to a mad look the then shouts very loud "WELL I DIDN'T WANT TO SHOW YOU ANYWAYS" then storms back into the kitchen.
it may be a little gross however that ad has stuck with me for years. i couldn't find the ad anywhere so i pulled this from memory so the details may be a little off but the main point is there.
so my question is what is your favorite commercial of all time? old or new, lame or funny. don't be shy.

I would have to say that my current favorite commercials are the Cingular dropped call commercials. Everytime i seen one it reminds me of how awkward a phone conversation can be and that it is often times really weird when you are trying to figure out the other person's emotion over the phone. I would say that these commecials are pure genius and they truly due reflect personal angst that many people face everyday when involved in a phone conversation.

I am not an ad major, but I like watching commercials. My boyfriend is a channel changer and we always disagree on commercial watching. My favorite commercial right now is the one for the home show where there are two couples that must've went out for dinner or something. The one couple drops the other couple off at "their house." They don't go inside because it is not their house. They are embarassed about their house so they were picked up and dropped off somewhere else. At the end, the couple drives away and then dogs start barking and lights turn on at the house and the other couple has to run away. It's not the best commercial ever, but I think it's funny.

I don't really have a commercial that sticks out in my head however, everytime I see a commercial I think of how I would have done it differently. I think "oh that dude should have said this instead of that" or she should have gotten hit by the biker instead of just falling down or whatever but yes, I do enjoy watching commercials. When i was in high school I took a "marketing" class taught but the football coach so we did a lot of b.s. to keep us busy and one of the things we did was watched the commercial awards shows...good times, good times.

Don't hate me, but I'm honestly one of those people who doesn't pay much attention to commercials. I can be watching TV with friends, eyes on the TV the whole time, and when they say something about the commercial immediately afterwards I have no idea what they're talking about. Some website compiled clips of the 50 best local tv commercials, though, and the top five are all for the same place and are completely amazing: http://www.thephatphree.com/features.asp?StoryId=3599&SectionID=16%3Ff&spage=10

Hahaha I start laughing just thinking about my favorite commercial. Anyone who has watched TV within the past few months will know this commercial. It is for Amp’d Busted with the Asian guy in the bathroom. He starts singing E 40’s “U and Dat” really quiet at first then he starts rapping really loudly. Soon another person walks into the bathroom and he gets really embarrassed. The best part of the whole commercial, that I actually didn’t notice until many times later, is right when the other guys walks up to the sink the Asian guy says “sorry” to the other guy. It makes me giggle so loud every time. I love it.

Here is the link if you want to watch it:

Another commercial that I will always love are the Budweiser frog commercials. And I don’t just say this because I am obsessed with frogs. I like them far before I liked frogs…okay in all honesty it was probably at about the same time. But I always thought they were cute and clever.

Here is a link to the commercial:

Haha I thought of another commercial that I love. I LOVE the Geico caveman commercials. Apparently the little gecko lost his charm and they had to create something else, and who thinks of cavemen….really? These guys are great. Here is a link to my favorite Geico caveman commercial.

I don't have a commercial that's my favorite of all time, but I do have a favorite of this time, right now. I'm a sucker for sentimental commercials that pull on your heartstrigs. I love the Rice Crispies commerical with the mom and daughter making rice crispy treats and they say, "The only bad thing about making rice cristy treats, is that they don't take long enough." or something like that. Oh, it makes me want to cry everytime, it's so sweet.

My favorite commercial is my favorite because of two reasons. The first is that it is hilarious and the second was the first time I saw it I was with my friend Ben who has consequently passed away from cancer. It was like an inside joke because we were the only two to see it out of our friends for a while. Anyway, the commercial was for a information storing device like a USB memory disk or something. It was some guy who had to pass on information to like a CEO, he tells a guy then he gets hit in the head and gets knocked out, the guy he told goes and tells another guy, then that guy gets knocked out, then the last guy is running to tell the CEO and right before he tells him he slips and hits his head on the table, consequently knocking him out. It is one of those that has to be seen in order to be funny though.

one commercial that really sticks in my mind is those empire carpet commercials from Chicago. the jingle "558-2300-empire" is very catchy. when i saw conan o brien in chicago the band played the jingle and the entire audience sang along.

I like the CareerBuilder.com comercials with the monkeys. It's the commercial where the guy (human) is trying to get work done and his coworkers are 'monkeying' around, they're literally monkeys. Now there's the commercial where the people are in a 'jungle' which is supposed to be the office and they have like notebooks and stuff for armor. That's pretty funny too. Good stuff. And any beer commercial usually has my vote too! :o)

I'm not a big commercial watcher either and I'm so happy to hear that someone else can be watching a commercial so passively that at the end you couldn't tell anyone what it was for or about.
Anyway, I don't think I've ever had a commercial stick with me especially since I'm completely unable to recall one right now, but I guess the Geico "Tiny House" one a while back was funny...

Off the top of my head, I can really only remember a few that have stuck out among the others. One of the best that I can pick out were the Apple computer commercials. These were the ones where they compared the Mac's with PC's, and each guy represented one of them. They were always so simple, but to the point, and ultimately funny.

Man, funny commercials are a dime a dozen. I like the type of commericials that are simple and and quirky. I guess a commericial that currently makes me giggle is the geico one where the caveman is visiting the therapist. "It's my mother, I'll put her on speaker phone." I don't know why but I chuckle each time I see it. I really liked that Pepsi commercial from like 10 years ago during the Super Bowl when the Pepsi delivery man is caught on survellance camera grabbing a Coke at the convenience store. When he goes to grab it, the shelves completely collapse and every Coke falls out of the fridge on top of him. Classic.

My favorite commercial is from a few years ago (I seem to be watching less and less these days...) Anyway, the ad is for some mp3 player and it shows some guy on a skateboard about to drop in on a decent sized half-pipe. He selects his song and then drops in only to fly up the other side and break through the ceiling (as the ceiling is only a few feet above the lip of the pipe)...needless to say his music doesn't skip a beat. However, the image of him breaking through the ceiling will always make me chuckle.
